16 Millimeter Rocked

Meine WocheSixth day of Biennale Bonn totally rocked by the drama "16 Millimeter". Spandan a theatre group from Calcutta, India do it in a new theatre language absolutely. The Director and Playwright and lead actor Sangram Guha did it brilliantly. He had done the research work from his independent sources and plotted the entire research work into a documentary script and finally turned it into a breadth-taking thriller. Sangram Guha said " it is an original drama which is based upon real incidents, which are kept aside from the citizens by the Indian Security Agencies. It is the Documentary Theatre." The entire audience of the show including the Deputy Prime Minister Ackshan Khole, Information Minister Rudolf Housie and the special representing team from Foreign Counsel Ministry of Germany rocks his claim.Die Welt Newspaper published on 26 May 2006
The drama has got the tremendous height by the stage appearance of a beautiful lady actor Sampa Sen acted in the lead role of the lawyer Soumi Pancholi. In this Seven day theatre festival focusing India, Sampa Sen can be acclaimed as the best lady actor in respect of her performance as well as elegant appearance.Frau Übersetzerin from Bengali to German language in the Live Show at Bonn Theatre.
The drama revolves around a real fact of terrorists attack in Indian Parliament. During the attack the terrorists belongs to a suicidal unit carried mobile phone, which is very rarest in any suicidal attack, not even that before their death they called up forty eight times on a particular number instead of firing. That number was 9810037156 and it was saved in their mobile phone as a code name of "16 MM".
But after the attack, when Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the highest intelligence agency of India along with Delhi Police started the enquiry process, they deliberately tried to hide that most sensitive clue. The drama pointed out this hidden agenda. It is a highly psychological thriller.
The drama has another blending of themes. It starts with a fusion of the lady lawyer's personal problem of sexuality, nudity and isolation along with the vibrant repulsive attack at New Delhi, the capital of India. It scored to a maximum limit where an expectation originated from the audience that the story may turn into complex factors of parliament attack, more alike to a Brechtian from. But suddenly the drama turned into a fight between a non-real realities with the crisis of the drama where in the blank stage that lady lawyer groomed herself for legal battle. Here the drama adopts a form of opera but maintaining its' theme of line. Among the recent experiments in theatre, 16 Millimeter is really an interesting case of changing multiple forms. A forms of line painting engraved in three canvases mounted from the sky fly may be the ideal portrayal of that experiments. Group acting are also very well synchronized with the theme.
