STORY: Indian theatre artistes staged a play in eastern Kolkata recently, exploring the nexus between US President George W. Bush and dreaded terrorist and head of Al-Qaeda outfit Osama Bin Laden. Set against the backdrop of the infamous 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre, the play titled 'Anti-Clock' drew on the content from sources such as CNN news reports and data collected by computer server 'Organisation for Peace and No-Terror World' (OPEN). Staged by theatre group 'Spandan', known for its hard hitting and factually inspired dramas, the play hinted at a close nexus between Bush and Laden, pointing at the involvement of key US agencies like CIA and FBI in the WTC attack.

"Actually, the main storyline is a fictional frame because it is a drama. But the whole incident, main characters are true. But I don't know how? Actually I have already portrayed, depicted, scene-to-scene transition in our drama. It is not fact but fiction, but the whole synopsis and basic background of the story and characters are true," said Sangram Guha, Director of 'Anti-Clock'.

The play exposed the fact about the Laden family's investment in US arms industry, drawing instances from real life to prove its point.'Anti-Clock' also shed light on America's recent war on Iraq, terming it a war of US imperialism.

"We want to show what is the actual reason of the demise of World Trade Centre. And it is a very true fact that after the demise of World Trade Centre US government claimed that only 6000 people have been killed. But after that we have big sorrow for them indeed. But about six million people have died through war led by US imperialism. So we have to raise our voice against it. In this political theatre we want to state what are truth and the hidden agenda," said Samudra Guha, an actor in the play.

Taking scientific recourse from studies, the play went on to hint at a great conspiracy involved in the collapse of the WTC, hinting at a close association between top American leaders and Al-Qaeda members. With so many anti-Bush campaigns all over the world, 'Anti-Clock' comes as another step towards Bush bashing.
